Milany Thiagarajah

Candidate - City Councillor
DARLINGTON

Biography

A unifying, committed, and inclusive voice for Darlington

Milany Thiagarajah joins Ensemble Montréal to build a safe, inclusive Darlington focused on the well-being of all families.

Milany holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University. She worked for seven years at Service Canada, where she helped thousands of residents—from seniors to newly arrived families—access essential services. This experience allowed her to develop attentive listening skills, sincere empathy, and a pragmatic approach to meeting the concrete needs of the population.

Milany was born and raised in Côte-des-Neiges, giving her an intimate knowledge of her community and the realities of life there. This familiarity allows her to establish natural and meaningful connections with residents. Over the years, she has been actively involved in community initiatives aimed at strengthening social ties, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering mutual respect between cultures. She also recognizes the need for Darlington residents, who value safety and quality of life, to have a representative who is accessible, attentive, and ready to defend their interests.

As a city councilor, Milany is committed to:

  •       Ensuring the safety and tranquility of neighborhoods, so that every family feels protected and respected
  •       Supporting local businesses and working with them to boost the neighborhood economy, safety, and improve residents’ quality of life
  •       Promote intercultural dialogue and build bridges between all communities for harmonious coexistence
  •       Improve access to municipal services and infrastructure for families, youth, seniors, and people with functional limitations
  •       Promote inclusion and diversity as pillars of a dynamic and supportive borough

Proud of her Sri Lankan Tamil roots and the cultural richness of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Milany Thiagarajah wants to make Darlington a model of unity, respect, and collaboration, where every citizen’s voice counts and where the city council works hand in hand with residents to build a better future.
