Ensemble Montréal announces its new candidate for Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles
Montreal, November 9, 2018 – Surrounded by his party’s elected officials from Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles, Ensemble Montreal leader, Lionel Perez announced the party’s new borough mayoral candidate, Manuel Guedes. Theo Vecera withdrew his candidacy on the advice of his doctor due to health reasons.
“The situation is unforeseen and urgent; it causes me great pain. However, I am convinced, Ensemble Montreal is the best choice for the citizens of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles. My intentions are to support the new candidate, as long as my health permits it. The citizens of the borough cannot afford a Projet Montréal mayor, that does not consider the needs of the local population.”
“I am honored to once again have the opportunity to represent the citizens of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles and be part of a team that is close to the community. I wish to continue development in the borough, in order for citizens to live in a healthy and prosperous environment, where services are easily accessible,” said Manuel Guedes.
Borough councilor for the Pointe-aux-Prairies District between 2013 and 2017, Manuel Guedes has a long career at Laurentian Bank. In the past years, he has volunteered a lot of his time for the community in Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles, most recently as president of the soccer club in Rivière-des-Prairies and as board president at Michelangelo Academy.
“His knowledge of borough issues makes him the best choice for mayor. A dedicated citizen of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles, who has worked in the past with the other council members. His knowledge and expertise on economic matters, and his ability to rally people behind him, makes him the best choice for the citizens and the borough, “stated Lionel Perez.
Suzanne Décarie, interim mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles, welcomed Manuel Guendes’ candidacy, as someone she has worked with in the past and has the utmost respect in. “The elected officials of our party know that he is the right choice for the job, and is someone who knows the borough very well, where he continues to contribute to the community. I look forward to working with him once again,” declared Suzanne Décarie.
