Biography
Leslie Roberts is a fourth-generation Montreal journalist. Born and raised in the city, he has been a familiar face on Canadian television since the late 1980s. Over the years, he has hosted his own radio show on CJAD, written columns for the Montreal Gazette, and built a career as an anchor, host, and commentator. His professional journey took him to Toronto, Ottawa, and the United States before he chose to return home four years ago.
Wherever his career led him, Leslie never stopped being one of Montreal’s most passionate ambassadors. He consistently promoted the city’s energy, culture, and potential. Yet, upon his return after more than twenty years away, he found a city facing financial challenges, stalled by misplaced priorities and weak policies.
Disappointed by this reality, Leslie began writing opinion pieces for La Presse, the Montreal Gazette, and the National Post. His commentary struck a chord. Montrealers reached out with concerns about the future of downtown, the state of public infrastructure, and a troubling lack of responsiveness at city hall. These conversations confirmed for him that citizens want real change.
Beyond journalism, Leslie has always been deeply involved in community life. He has worked with the Montreal Children’s Hospital, supported several cancer-fighting organizations, and served as a past board member of Sun Youth. He currently sits on the board of TALQ, formerly the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), one of the province’s leading advocacy organizations for English-speaking Quebecers.
As a resident of Peter-McGill, in the heart of downtown, Leslie understands the district’s challenges and its tremendous potential. He quickly realized that while writing about problems raises awareness, true solutions require direct representation and action.
As Ensemble Montréal’s candidate for the Peter-McGill district, Leslie Roberts is committed to bringing a strong voice to city hall. His priorities are clear: revitalize downtown, restore financial stability, and build a dynamic, welcoming Montreal that looks confidently to the future.
