CDN-NDG Ensemble Montréal Commits to Providing Necessary Leadership to Realize School Project in CDN-NDG’s Triangle Sector

Stephanie Valenzuela, Ensemble Montréal’s candidate for borough mayor of Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, announced Friday morning that a Soraya Martinez Ferrada administration would advocate to the Quebec government on behalf of Triangle sector residents and work in partnership to deliver school and daycare projects.

Residents of this Snowdon sector have been waiting over 15 years for a school to be built in this part of the borough, which lacks institutional infrastructure and green space.

Over the past decade, more than 1,000 households have moved to the Triangle after being promised a school by Projet Montréal. Yet the lack of leadership on this file, as on many others, means all we have is a decontaminated site ready to accommodate a school project.

Our Commitments

  • Advocate for the residents of the Triangle to the Quebec government and work in partnership with it to deliver school and daycare projects.
  • Make the Triangle sector a complete, livable neighborhood by prioritizing essential infrastructure, including green spaces and community facilities.
  • Develop a real plan to address flooding in the borough, including the Triangle sector.

Quotes:

“The Triangle is a young, rapidly growing neighborhood that has been left behind for far too long. A site is ready, the needs are urgent, but the current administration has failed in its responsibilities. With Ensemble Montréal, we will provide the leadership necessary to move this file forward. Triangle families deserve a school, a daycare, green spaces and a real plan for the future.”
Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Ensemble Montréal leader and candidate for mayor of Montreal

“We’re heading straight toward a Griffintown 2.0. No planning, no vision for the future. Residents deserve a 21st-century neighborhood that allows families to raise their children. As an expectant mother, I want to be able to send my child to school on foot in complete safety.”
Stephanie Valenzuela, Ensemble Montréal candidate for borough mayor of Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

“I’ve been fighting for years alongside residents of the Triangle, Mountain Sights, Ostell-Crescent and Kindersley to have their basic needs heard. The site is ready, families are there, but the school is still nowhere to be seen. This lack of vision is unacceptable. With Ensemble Montréal, we will finally give Triangle families a neighborhood that lives up to their expectations.”
Sonny Moroz, Ensemble Montréal city councillor for Snowdon district
