The origin of Pointe-aux-Trembles dates back to 1674, when a former municipality bore this name before being annexed in 1982 by the City of Montreal. One of the attractions of the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles is, among others, the Pointe-aux-Trembles Fort on the Island of Montreal.
