From Borough Councillor to City Councillor Candidate: A Voice for Inclusion, Youth, and a Stronger Saint-Léonard
Elected in 2021 as Borough Councillor for Saint-Léonard-Est, Arij El Korbi dedicated her mandate to promoting diversity, inclusion, and citizen engagement. Born in Montréal and a proud resident of Saint-Léonard for over 25 years, and from a Tunisian background, she has always worked to bring municipal institutions closer to residents and to amplify the voices of those who are often underrepresented.
Her involvement with the Jeune Conseil de Montréal gave her strong experience in youth and civic engagement. Later, her work with various community organizations in the borough helped lay the groundwork for the creation of a Youth Council in Saint-Léonard, giving young people a stronger voice in local democratic life. A former Commissioner at the Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île (CSPI), she also served on the Commission on Transport and Public Works and as co-spokesperson on anti-racism, water infrastructure, and roadworks.
Today, Arij El Korbi is seeking to bring her experience and energy to the next level as City Councillor, with a vision rooted in collaboration, transparency, and real solutions for all residents of Saint-Léonard.
