Biography
Chantal Gagnon is an experienced manager and passionate leader who, for over twenty years, has dedicated her expertise in governance, organizational management, and community mobilization to the service of her community.
From March 2018 to April 2025, she served as Executive Director of the Service d’aide et de référencement Aîné d’Anjou (SARA d’Anjou), an essential organization supporting seniors to remain in their homes. Under her leadership, SARA experienced significant growth, organizational stability, and increased visibility thanks to innovative services, strong partnerships with the SPVM, CIUSSS, OMHM, and various community organizations, as well as the mobilization of over sixty volunteers.
Before her time at SARA, Chantal founded and led her own debt collection agency (2016–2018) and worked for more than fifteen years as a paralegal for major institutions such as the Collège des médecins du Québec, the STM, the APCHQ, and law firms including Fasken, De Grandpré Chait, and Gowlings. This legal and organizational experience allowed her to develop a solid strategic vision and exemplary discipline in managing complex projects.
Her community involvement goes far beyond her professional roles. She serves on the board of directors of the Caisse Desjardins Mercier-Est–Anjou, where she chaired the Governance and Ethics Committee. In 2025, she became President of the Maison d’hébergement d’Anjou, where she oversees a project to build a new shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. A member of the Lions Club, she also dedicates her time and leadership to humanitarian initiatives that have a direct impact on citizens’ lives.
Chantal holds a graduate diploma (DESS) in Community Economic Development, a university certificate in Governance (ASC, C.Dir.), one in Leadership and Management Skills, as well as a college diploma (DEC) in Paralegal Technology. A Certified Corporate Director (Adm.A.) and a certified fitness instructor, she brings people together around collective projects.
Recipient of both the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) and the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2024), Chantal Gagnon embodies a vision of inclusion, transparency, and sustainable development for Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
