Biography
A well-known political figure in Montréal-Nord, where she was born and still resides, Chantal Rossi is the daughter of Carlo Rossi, the first federal MP of Italian origin elected in Quebec. Introduced to public life at a young age, she worked for 16 years as a school commissioner for the Pointe-de-l’Île School Board before entering municipal politics, strengthening her connection to the local community.
Elected borough councillor for the Marie-Clarac District in 2009 and city councillor in 2013, she served on Montréal’s Executive Committee from 2013 to 2017, overseeing cultural, heritage, and design portfolios.
Since 2017, she has represented the Ovide-Clermont District as city councillor and serves as Leader of the Official Opposition at City Hall, while also acting as critic for culture, heritage, universal accessibility, and the French language.
Deeply committed to civic life, Chantal launched the Mayor for a Day program to engage youth in local democracy and successfully advocated for the creation of a Seniors’ Council in Montréal to better represent this growing population.
Her involvement extends far beyond politics, as she has long volunteered with organizations such as the Richelieu Club, Ste-Colette Parish, and Ste-Gertrude Parish, demonstrating her constant dedication to serving her community with authenticity and determination.
