A long-time resident of L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, Doug Hurley has always been deeply involved in both the professional and community life of the borough. After more than 30 years with the Montréal Police Service—starting as a patrol officer and rising to Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division—he also dedicated himself to training the next generation as a professor in the Police Technology Program at John Abbott College since 1997.
Convinced of the importance of community spirit, Doug has volunteered with local sports clubs in L’Île-Bizard, Sainte-Geneviève, and Pierrefonds-Roxboro, coaching hockey, baseball, and soccer for three decades. As President of the L’Île-Bizard Optimist Club, he helped organize food drives, supported families during the 2017 and 2019 floods, and strengthened the borough’s social fabric.
His political commitment is driven by a desire to bring the community together, ensure public safety, and preserve the borough’s agricultural and cultural heritage while promoting sustainable and respectful development. For Doug Hurley, effective municipal governance depends on listening, transparency, respect for citizens, and being present on the ground—even in the most challenging times.
