Geoffrey King, candidate or borough councillor in the Claude-Ryan district of Outremont
For Ensemble Montréal – Team Soraya, together with Caroline Braun, Outremont mayoral candidate
An Outremont resident for almost 20 years, Geoffrey King is a member of both the Table de concertation de bon voisinage and of the Table de quartier Outremont. Mr. King is committed to the ideals of bien vivre ensemble and is focused on strengthening the ties between members of the various communities who live and work in Outremont. Convinced that the best decisions are made through open, transparent and inclusive dialogue, Mr. King prioritizes l’écoute: listening to citizens’ concerns.
Professionally, Geoffrey King has spent 30 years as a communications consultant specializing in media relations and public affairs planning. He has worked with clients in the private and public sectors, operating both nationally and internationally, primarily in the fields of finance, academia and technology. He was initially employed as a radio reporter and program host with Canada’s national public broadcaster, CBC – Radio-Canada International.
Mr. King holds a BA (Honours) from Western University (London, Ontario), where he studied political science and journalism, as well as a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (Celta) from the University of Cambridge (UK).
If elected councillor, Mr. King will prioritize quality of life issues. He advocates for clean, well maintained public spaces, such as streets, sidewalks, alleys and parks. He supports measures to improve public security, especially for children and senior citizens. He plans to enforce compliance with existing regulations for construction and renovation projects. He also pledges to manage municipal finances with rigour and transparency.
In addition, Geoffrey King intends to work closely with business owners to revitalize Outremont’s commercial arteries – Laurier, Bernard and Van Horne – as attractive retail and dining destinations. Committed to open, collaborative, and inclusive governance, Mr. King is determined to place citizen participation at the heart of the decision-making process.
With Caroline Braun and Ensemble Montréal – Team Soraya, Geoffrey King is committed to making Outremont more beautiful, much safer, more democratic and well managed.
