Biography
For a second term, Julien Hénault-Ratelle wishes to continue building a green, accessible and prosperous Tétreaultville. His experience in urban planning, economic development and citizen mobilization makes him a strong candidate to carry the voice of Tétreaultville residents at city council.
A resident of Tétreaultville for more than twenty-five years, Julien considers his neighborhood a true gem of East Montreal. Elected city councillor in 2021, he has distinguished himself by his closeness to citizens and his commitment to making the district greener, more functional and better served. At the age of 20, he became involved as a volunteer project director for the development of the Carte-Repas Solidaire with the organization L’Itinéraire, offering hot and nutritious meals to people experiencing homelessness. For him, a community that supports its most vulnerable members is a community rich in humanity, a vision he shares with the residents of Tétreaultville.
His professional background has led him to work internationally, notably at the Québec Government Office in New York as an economic analyst and at Montréal International in the attraction of foreign direct investment. With a master’s degree in business law from the Université de Montréal and a bilingual bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal, he combines economic expertise, strategic insight and in-depth knowledge of local issues.
At city council, he has defended greening and access to the riverbanks, cleanliness and safety, as well as economic development that respects the identity of the neighborhood. He has also worked hard to improve the condition of the sector’s streets and sidewalks, as well as to ensure fair funding for community organizations in Mercier-Est. Finalist of the “Young Leader” contest of the East Montreal Chamber of Commerce in 2021 and recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, Julien Hénault-Ratelle puts his experience and determination at the service of a Tétreaultville that lives up to the aspirations of its citizens.
