Biography
Laurie Dupuis is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal, with a concentration in Feminist Studies, and represents a new generation of leaders combining academic rigor, community engagement, and a drive for change.
Her journey began at Cégep de Maisonneuve in Social Sciences, Justice and Society profile, where she took part in the PRA (Indigenous Encounters Project). This immersive experience with the Innu communities of Essipit and Pessamit — which included learning the Innu language and spending time in the Nutshimit — profoundly shaped her understanding of the social and environmental realities faced by Indigenous communities.
Laurie has been actively involved in politics from an early age, serving as a Member of the Quebec Student Parliament and as Clerk of the Montreal Youth Council, contributing to participatory democracy initiatives. She also sits on the executive committee of Les Allumettes (Oui Québec), a collective promoting women’s voices in the independence movement, and co-hosts OUI en direct, a program focused on independence, politics, and social issues.
Professionally, she has been applying her skills in communications and community mobilization since 2025 at the Rivière-des-Prairies Volunteer Action Center, supporting initiatives with a direct impact on local citizens.
A lifelong resident of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Laurie knows her community deeply. Passionate about social justice and citizen participation, she aims to bring a fresh, inclusive, and people-centered approach to municipal politics.
