Biography
For more than twenty-five years, Mary Deros has embodied community-driven leadership in service to the residents of Parc-Extension. First elected as City Councillor in 1998, she quickly distinguished herself through her attentiveness, determination, and strong commitment to improving her neighborhood’s quality of life. From 2009 to 2011, she also served as Vice-Chair of the Commission on Social Development and Montréal Diversity, where she helped advance policies that fostered inclusion and community cohesion.
A graduate in Travel and Tourism from LaSalle College in 1970, Mary Deros has always carried with her a deep curiosity for the world and a profound respect for people. This openness guided her long before her entry into politics. From 1986 to 1998, she was actively involved with the Park-Extension Youth Organisation (PEYO), holding various roles in support of local youth. During the same period, she also served for over a decade as Secretary-Treasurer of the Panellinios Soccer Club of Parc-Extension.
A proud Montrealer, Mary Deros has always kept her city and borough close to her heart. Her efforts have contributed to a major transformation of Parc-Extension, including the redevelopment of all local parks, the addition of three splash pads, and the creation of new, emblematic green spaces such as Centenary Park, Saint-Roch Park, and Dickie Moore Park.
Throughout her mandates, she has remained guided by the same philosophy: to take nothing for granted and to dedicate herself each day to the well-being of her residents. A strong and committed leader, deeply connected to her community and driven by a sincere passion for public service, Mary Deros continues to make community harmony the cornerstone of her political action.
