AG Report: Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Pledges to Finally Deliver Basic Services and Listen to Montrealers

Montreal, August 26, 2025 – In light of the Auditor General’s (AG) report published Monday, criticizing the Plante-Rabouin administration’s inefficient management the City’s resources and expenditures, mayoral candidate and Ensemble Montréal leader Soraya Martinez Ferrada pledges to restore quality basic services and ensure better coordination between the City-centre and the boroughs.
To address the report’s identified gaps, Soraya Martinez Ferrada proposes establishing a roundtable bringing together all borough mayors. Meeting regularly, this body would improve project oversight and ensure decision-making reflects local realities.
Troubling Findings in the Mayor Rabouin’s Borough
The AG report is unequivocal: roads are deteriorating and first responders must work with deficient protective equipment – all while Montrealers pay higher taxes as services decline.
Among the most concerning findings: boroughs led by Projet Montréal show the worst results for local road quality, particularly Mayor Luc Rabouin’s borough, where more than one street in two is in poor condition.
Commitments
Through Soraya Martinez Ferrada’s leadership and attentiveness, the city’s financial management and quality of basic services will be greatly improved, notably by:
- Establishing a roundtable of mayors meeting regularly to ensure rigorous project oversight and better consideration of local realities;
- Ensuring better road maintenance in all boroughs;
- Providing firefighters with compliant and safe protective equipment;
- Using innovative Montreal solutions for better planning and coordination of construction work, particularly through our homegrown expertise in artificial intelligence.
Quotes:
“This report confirms that while the Plante-Rabouin administration raises taxes, Projet Montréal neglects basic municipal services, much to citizens’ dismay. As mayor, I will restore rigor, transparency and above all, responsiveness to citizens’ real needs. A well-managed city isn’t a luxury, it’s the bare minimum.” — Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Ensemble Montréal leader and mayoral candidate.
“Construction site management sorely lacks coordination, leading to delays, additional costs and growing inconvenience for citizens. In this context, using artificial intelligence developed right here in Montreal represents a major opportunity to optimize work planning and management.” — Alexandre Teodoresco, Ensemble Montréal candidate for the Loyola district.
