Ensemble Montréal Presents Its Candidates In The Boroughs Of Lachine, Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles et Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension For The Municipal Elections

MONTREAL, June 4th, 2021 – The Ensemble Montréal family continues to grow. At a press conference held in Old Montreal in the morning, the party leader, Denis Coderre, presented several new candidates for the municipal elections.

Transparency, openness and democracy in Lachine

The current independent advisor Julie-Pascale Provost, who is also a teacher and anthropologist, will run for mayor of Lachine. The candidate promises to bring the values of transparency, openness and democracy back to the forefront.

“Julie-Pascale has demonstrated over the past few months that she is truly there to defend the concerns of citizens. Lachine will have to take a stand on important issues such as mobility with the tramway project and sustainable development with access to the waterfront. She is the person of words, action and convictions that the borough needs,” said the leader of Ensemble Montréal, Denis Coderre.

Julie-Pascale Provost recently contributed to the creation of the Cards on the Table coalition to demand more transparency in municipal politics. According to her, it is inconceivable that citizens find it difficult to obtain answers or to be listened to if they do not share the ideology of the municipal administration.

“In order for all citizens to get involved in their communities, we must assure them that all ideas are welcome. I want to go back to the basics of politics, to listen to the residents, and then decide together on the future of Lachine in order to make it the pride of all,” said Julie-Pascale Provost, candidate for mayor of Lachine for Ensemble Montréal.

The Ensemble Montréal team is also growing with the arrival of Mrs. Josée Côté who will run as a Lachine city councillor. City councillor for four years on Île d’Orléans where she was known for her passionate involvement, she now stands out for her commitment to the borough. Over the past year, she has, among other things, defended the borough’s boaters in order to find a consensus on the transformation of the marina into a waterfront park.

RDP-PAT : a bourough with a promising future

General Manager of the Association d’isolation du Québec and working for more than 30 years in the construction industry, Ms. Lyne Laperrière will try to win the mayor’s office of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles. Montreal East will undergo major development in the coming years with the decontamination of the soil, the arrival of the REM and the transformation of Notre-Dame Street. Her expertise will be a great asset in making the borough a true pole of economic, social and environmental attractiveness.

“Montreal East offers an opportunity to rethink the way our cities are built. By making a shift fueled by sustainable mobility and a genuine concern for the environment, the borough can become the home of many promising activities. Lyne has the leadership to support the players who are working to reinvent the sector,” said the leader of Ensemble Montréal.

Also committed to promoting the interests and rights of women in the construction industry, Lyne Laperrière has contributed in recent years to changing mentalities in many organizations.

“I now want to become an agent of change for the borough. I wish to contribute to its evolution, to have an impact, by continuing to advance the diversity” added Lyne Laperrière, candidate for mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles for Ensemble Montréal.

The Ensemble Montréal team is also pleased to welcome Mr. Vincent Girard, who will run for city councilor in the district of La Pointe-aux-Prairies. Involved in the board of directors of the Centre de services scolaires de la Pointe-de-l’Île and president of the governing board of the specialised school Le Tournesol, this father of two autistic children will be able to participate in the rethinking of developments and services to citizens in order to build a Montreal for all Montrealers.

Leaving no one behind in VSMPE

For their part, residents of the Villeray district will be able to count on Mourad Romdhane, owner of the Bistro L’Enchanteur, who will run as a city councillor. Committed to neighbourhood life and to people in need, his experience will allow him to help small business owners and restaurant owners for whom the proposed solutions do not meet their needs.

Mr. Romdhane joins Guillaume Lavoie, whose candidacy for mayor of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension was announced a few weeks ago.

“From the east to the west of Montreal, we present today candidates who share the desire to promote living together in terms of urban planning, development and amenities. Without even being involved in politics, they have each contributed in their own way to advancing various causes and issues. They will be able to meet expectations,” concluded Mr. Coderre.
