Ensemble Montréal Presents a Responsible Financial Framework

Soraya Martinez Ferrada, candidate for Mayor of Montréal and Leader of Ensemble Montréal, presented on Thursday the party’s electoral financial framework, designed to address the concerns of Montrealers.
The 2026–2029 financial framework demonstrates that it is possible to stabilize the city’s finances and protect the ability of citizens and businesses to pay, while continuing to invest in essential services.
The projected surpluses will allow the city to face upcoming financial challenges without passing the burden onto Montrealers, through measures such as:
- Simplifying administrative procedures to accelerate construction and renovation projects;
- Investing heavily in affordable and social housing to address the housing crisis;
- Supporting families and the middle class in purchasing their first home;
- Acting decisively to combat homelessness, including tripling the annual homelessness budget and creating at least 2,000 transitional housing units;
- Focusing on innovation and new technologies to make municipal administration more efficient and effective.
For the 2026–2029 mandate, Ensemble Montréal projects an overall surplus of $145.9 million. These margins will help protect the city from future economic uncertainties while supporting strategic investments in housing, homelessness prevention, safety, and cleanliness.

Quotes:
“Montréal needs an administration that listens, takes action, and respects the financial capacity of citizens, families, and business owners. We want to build a cleaner, safer, and more dynamic city.”
— Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Candidate for Mayor of Montréal and Leader of Ensemble Montréal
“Once again, Projet Montréal wants to impose new taxes on Montrealers to fund their projects. An Ensemble Montréal administration will instead cut red tape by eliminating 1,000 positions to create the financial flexibility needed.”
— Claude Pinard, Candidate for City Councillor in the Saint-Jacques district and future Chair of the Executive Committee in a Martinez Ferrada administration
